Noh

In many Noh plays, most of the Shite who appear in Hashigakari are gods, the dead, ghosts, and those who are missing. They are all those who have borne the burden of misfortune. Their souls cannot float away. They are wandering in various places. Those who were in such circumstances in the past are chosen to play the Shite. Noh is a representative of Japan’s classical performing arts, but its stage and content are designed to show how beautiful and how extreme the “art of drifting” can be.
