Nawashiro

Nawashiro is a small paddy field for growing young rice seedlings. The seeds are planted imo nursing boxes and laid out in neat rows. Once the young

rice plants grow big enough, they are transferred to the bigger paddy fields.

The moist weather and abundance of water in most Asian countries is ideal for growing rice. However. in Japan where periods of drought are followed by fierce typhoons people had to develop special rice cultivation techniques.
