In the midst of a violent typhoon, Genji’s son Yugiri catches a first-time glimpse of his father’s principal wife, Murasaki no Ue. Breathtaken by her beauty,
the young boy feels a sense of susabi, a storm inside his heart, which disturbs him all night. He is finally consoled the next morning by the soothing sight of young girls feeding morning dew to crickets in a cage. (Based on “Nowaki”(typhoon), Chapter 28 of The Tale of Genji.)
