Jakkoin Temple

Ohara Jakkoin Temple is a convent located northwest of Mount Hiei. The site is remembered in connection with The Tale of the Heike. Kenreimonin Tokuko, the daughter of General Tairano Kiyomori, renounced secular life and spent the remainder of her days here after the battle of Dan-no-ura.
