KATA(Frames)
There are two main types of “kata,” one of which is katagi. It is easy to understand because it is a wooden mold, or mold, which is the basis of a shape, and it is used to create a pattern in a bobon. There are various types of katagata, such as haniwa clay molds, building component molds, metalworking molds (so-called kanagata), komon molds, woodblock printing block molds, and Japanese confectionery molds. So-called crest molds go here. In English, it is a template.
The other type is the kata involving body movements, which is quite rich and complicated. As you can see, for example, dance, ikebana, tea ceremony etiquette, and ningyo joruri all have their own kata, but it is quite difficult to discuss them all together.
