Daimyo Procession

During the Edo period, the lord of each of the feudal domains formed elaborate processions when traveling between their homeland and capital, Edo. Based on symbols carried by troops during wartime, identifying decorations and heraldic crests of the period were published in the Bukan records, and even common folk were able to distinguish the many designs.
