Ceremonial offering of new rice harvest

This festival is called “Niiname–sai” and celebrates the five grains of the year, especially the new rice of the year. It is held every year on November 23 at the Shinkaden Hall near the three halls of the Imperial Palace. In the past, it was held on the winter solstice. Niiname means new rice harvested in the same year.
