Maiko－Apprentice

A maiko performs a classical dance called nihon-buyo. To reach the level of a true geisha(or geiko), young female entertainers undergo strict training, which covers a wide range of performing arts, including shamisen, ohayashi, and odori. They bring life to banquets through the beauty of “stillness”

You can recognize them from their train, trailing kimono and the seasonal flower arrangement of their hairstyle. Look at their eyes and you can feel their youth behind the heavy makeup.
